To the Heart
To the Heart is an exploration of what could come of us if all our shots were color and growth. To the Heart is 56 cm across the chest. Every T-shirt is uniquely hand-selected and treated with care by Community Rummage. The piece undergoes a deep inspection and alternations, refurbishment, and organic dying processes allow us to give fresh life to these fabrics. Every tee is unique and offers its own urban vibe.
MENDING & EMBELLISHMENTS
Community Rummage developed our methodology of mending garments by extrapolating from the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — based on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, we can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. In this spirit, used garments that would have otherwise been discarded were given new life and energy. Minor holes were patched with vinyl iron-ons. Found and gathered embellishments made their way onto the garments through mindful and sturdy application. Buttons were replaced for both functional and aesthetic purposes.
Dyed items undergo an organic dye process in Washington. The dyes featured in Community Rummage’s collections include S.E.I. Natural Fade Fabric Spray Dye and Shibori Dyes. In addition to these considerations, Community Rummage is committed to practice mindful disposal of dying liquids.
